District- 2016-17 Staff Appreciation Awards

On April 17th, the 506 District held their Annual Staff Appreciation Banquet.  This annual banquet is an excellent opportunity to show our staff how highly we regard them.  Nearly 80 service pens were given to employees in their 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th, & 40th years with the district.  It's an achievement to survive your first year in the trenches, but to continue serving the same district for 40 years with enthusiasm is an entirely different level of commitment to our students & community.  We applaud all of our staff celebrating anniversaries this year.

We also celebrated our staff's commitment by handing out this year's Excellence in Education Award.  16 individuals from teachers, support staff, & administration were nominated for this honor.  Only three were chosen:  Brad Smith (P.E. LCHS), Larry Myers (Transportation & Maintenance District), & Stephanie Dwyer (Title I Reading Specialist MVW). In addition to these three award winners, a special Legacy Award was presented to Mrs. Glenda Aikins for her years of dedicated service to our students & staff.  Mrs. Aikins has chosen to retire at the end of this school year, and we wish her all the best.  Mrs. Tiffany Flatts has been hired to take the AGS Principal position, & we also wish her all the best, for despite Mrs. Aikins diminutive stature, she has left quite a large hole to fill in our buildings & in our hearts.

Thank you, Mrs. Aikins, for the impact you've made on our schools & communities.  We respect and appreciate the time you gave to us.
