Labette County FFA Food Science team are now District Champions!

Finishing in the top ten and paving the way for that first-place team finish are team members Peyton Merrick in 8th, Macy Clevenger in 3rd, Alyssa Barragar in 2nd and Lakin Giager with a first-place win.

FFA team members also competing yesterday were Emily Black, Haylie Burroughs, Kaylee Eberhart, Peyton Gibson, Aubrey Lassen, Grace Ruark, and Elizabeth Shoulders.

The food science competition consists of five components. Students take a 50-question test pertaining to the food science industry. Students then complete a basic aroma test by using their senses. A triangle test is given to determine a product that doesn’t fit the group of three. A math calculations exam is given concerning Food Science computation. And lastly, students take a food safety practicum, which asks them to identify hazardous situations in the food science industry.
