SECOND LABETTE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATOR WINS CLAES NOBEL EDUCATOR OF DISTINCTION AWARD

Misty Burke, an educator at Labette County High School, was recently selected as a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction by the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS). Misty joins her colleague, Kylie Booth, on the NSHSS’s A role model to pupils, Misty was nominated by a student for outstanding dedication and commitment to excellence in the profession. 

Ms. Burke has been a College Orientation and Psychology teacher at Labette County High School for the last 5 years. 

“Mrs. Burke is truly dedicated to our students at LCHS,” said Labette County High School Principal Stacy Smith. “Her determination to help seniors achieve their post-secondary goals is undeniably the reason behind many of our students' future successes. She pushes them to succeed in the classroom and helps them realize their capability in so many capacities. Her lengthy record of scholarship success is a driving factor in our genuine appreciation for her as a professional. Mrs. Burke also leads students in the SADD organization, this club has become a foundational support for student leadership activities, which positively impacts many at LCHS. We are fortunate to have Mrs. Burke as a member of the Grizzly Nation family, hands down a better place with her on our team!”

Each year student members of NSHSS are invited to nominate the educator who made the most significant contribution to their academic career for the Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction award. This honor recognizes exemplary educators whose passion and devotion inspire their students to grow and develop as scholars, leaders, and citizens.
