Labette County High School Celebrates Former Setter, Shelbi Wilson, Selected for All-Star Game

Launch the media gallery 1 playerALTAMONT, KANSAS – USD 506 and Labette County High School proudly congratulate former setter Shelbi Wilson on her selection to the 2023 Kansas Volleyball Association All-Star Team. The annual event recognizes the top high school volleyball players in Kansas and will be held at 4:30 pm on June 3, 2023, at Lee Arena on the Washburn University campus.
Shelbi, who played for Labette County High School, joins players from 23 other Kansas high schools on the Blue Team. The selection process for the teams involves high school coaches nominating players who are then reviewed and selected by a committee based on achievements, positions, classifications, collegiate plans, and availability.
"Shelbi Wilson is truly an outstanding student-athlete that represents LCHS in so many different areas as a top performer, dedicated to giving each activity she is involved in 110%," said Stacy Smtih, Principal of Labette County High School. "She is rare in today’s world of athletics. She is not one sport focused but rather a three-sport athlete, while a top academic student. We have been lucky to have her spend her high school career at Labette County."
Labette County High School's Assistant Volleyball Coach, Brianna Volmer, echoed Mrs. Smith’s sentiments: "Shelbi Wilson is the epitome of hard work, perseverance, and an LCHS Grizzly. Being invited to the KVA all-star game is an amazing opportunity for Shelbi and much deserved. Her devotion to her craft is paying off and Shelbi left LCHS better than she found it. We cannot wait to cheer Shelbi on at the KVA all-star game and as she continues her volleyball career at Hutchinson Community College."
Shelbi will represent Labette County High School on the Blue Team, coached by Sandy Arnold from Hillsboro High School, Sarah Johnson from Silver Lake High School, and Kayla Weidert from Andover Central High School. The USD 506 community wishes Shelbi and her team the best of luck at the All-Star Game.
